The greatest contribution of India to the world is her material and spiritual science. No civilization, however old it be, has ever attained the level of sophistication, reached by the great ancient Siddhas, Yogis and Rishis of India in material and spiritual science.

What they had was not just intelligence but intuition. They could see, hear or feel beyond the realm of the five senses. Using special salts as well as herbal formulae the Siddhas developed the unique science of rejuvenation, known as "kaya kalpa", which allowed them to prolong their lives until the long term effects of Kriya Kundalini Pranayama and similar yogic practices could complete the process of transformation, bringing about physical immortality.

Siddhas followed the ancient Guru- disciple apprenticeship method. They revealed their secrets to those students whom they felt could be trusted not to misuse the science. The science of Kaya kalpa was limited to those great sages. who were prepared for the uplifting of humanity. Ayurveda came much later as discipline.

SIDDHAS SECRET KNOWLEDGE
The Siddhas had vast knowledge of human anatomy. Their single-minded concentration was unique. It was was achieved with perfection. Their literature on medicine was extensive. The Siddhas were a close-knit community and preferred to preserve their knowledge. They reduced this knowledge to codes and symbols and their literature was steeped in mysticism. Only a Siddha can decode the writings of a Siddha. A beginner could not gain any appreciable knowledge without the Siddha accepting him as a student.

THE SCIENCE OF YOGA
Siddhas such as Thirumoolar, Agastyar, Boganathar, and many more had realized their capacity for experiencing and manifesting the Divine. This was not only limited to the spiritual plane of existence. The Cosmic Spirit would descend into the more lower and gross planes of consciousness, the intellectual, mental, and physical bodies. This for us is a limiting thought as our yogic parasites are not as intense as the Siddha. With progressive surrender of their being , their ego and their very lives the Divine would indeed transform them. With intense practices of various Kriyas, hatha and bhakti yoga, meditation, mantras and Kriya Kundalini Pranayama they merged with the Cosmic Spirit . This was race against time as the natural breakdown of cells, catabolism, had to be reversed to anabolism to prolong the extent of their age. They had to complete the Divine transformation. With Kriya Kundalini yoga and using specific herbal and mineral salts they were able to prolong their youth for the Ultimate transformation.

Rahu Kaalam, Gulikai Kalam and Yama Gandam Kalam



When and How to observe ?
Rahu Kalam 

Rahu Kalam comes daily where in South India it is carefully monitored. In all Muhurtams (auspicious time for particular functions), Rahu-Kalam is, by and large avoided. Apparently every body wants to escape the unfortunate happenings, whether during the function or even thereafter. Auspicious time selected goes a long way in conferring the needed happiness and prosperity.
Muhurutam or the selection of auspicious moment can neutralize to a certain extent the afflictions existing at the specific time (meant for an event). In other words, it is stated that if marital happiness is not depicted in the birth chart, the Muhurtam may not be in a position to confer on the native expected marital harmony, but it ould definitely reduce the sources of friction to a great extent. Apart from selection of Tithi(date), Vara(day), Nakshtram(constellation), Yogam and Karnam, the selection of a particular moment is important. One method of selecting the auspicious moment is with reference to the Hora of the day (each day is divided into 24 Horas) and the other is with reference to the rising lagna. In-between the selection of auspicious time, comes the Rahu-Kalam, which is normally advised to be be avoided. Rahu-Kalam is determined with reference to the time of Sunrise say 6.ØØ A.M. (for Indian Standard Time) Rahu-Kalam would be ruling the following hours of the day as indicated below:

Rahu kalam is supposed to be a bad time to do anything auspicious or even for starting something new.

Gulikai Kalam

Gulika is also called Mandi i.e. the son of Mandam alias Shani). His rising period is not auspicious. Not only that, the Rasi where it stands is not also used for auspicious functions. He rises twice a day – once during day and again at night. However, inauspicious time is given as 1 ½ hours every day, starting from Saturday (being the son of Saturn) 6 a.m. to 7.3Ø a.m.; reckon backwards then i.e. Friday, 7.3Ø to 9.ØØ p.m., and Thursday 9.ØØ a.m. to 1Ø.3Ø a.m. (determined with reference to the time of Sunrise say 6.ØØ A.M).

Monday 1.3Ø p.m. - 3 p.m.
Tuesday 12 p.m. - 1.3Ø p.m.

Yamagandam is the son of Guru and he is also considered inauspicious and rising period starts from 6.ØØ a.m. to 7.3Ø a.m. on Thursday, and going backwards i.e. on Wednesday 7.3Ø a.m. to 9.ØØ a.m. etc. (determined with reference to the time of Sunrise say 6.ØØ A.M).

Yamagandam Kalam
Sunday 12.ØØ p.m. - 1.3Ø p.m.
Monday 1Ø.3Ø a.m. - 12.ØØ p.m.
Tuesday 9 a.m. - 1Ø.3Ø a.m.

Rahu Kalam and Yama Gandam are always considered inauspicious while Gulikai though not that inauspicious, is not again treated specially auspicous as there are times of auspiciousness for each day of a year and it is generally avoided for removing human bodies after departure of the soul , for cremation / burial.

What is Full Moon & Guru Purnima (Full Moon of the Guru) ?

The Moon is the sensorial, transmitter and collector of  other planetary influences.The phases of the Moon affects our mind and emotions.



What happens during full moon ?
Ascended enlightenment masters, the Siddhas, Yogi and Rishis although they live in the other dimension they come to earth plane on this day in order to bless the human being so that they can receive spiritual blessings.

The earth plane is also for performing certain ritual and meditation practices. So the ascended Siddhas, Yogis and Rishis come to earth plane on Full Moon day in order to perform those rituals. When you are aware you can get connected to them and get their bless easily.

What to do during full moon day?
One should seek guidance, blessing and grace of Ascended Masters. It is better to visit and meditate in holy places and to worship one’s own Guru.

How to make home environment positive and receptive during full moon day ?
Apart from doing meditation, one can do Homam and can chant mantras. It is better to let the mantra cd run all the day. Mantras have positive sounds which completely transform the environment and make it more receptive to divine energy. 

How to do Homam ritual by yourself ?
Homam is a fire ritual where normally a priest is called to conduct at home to cleanse the house of any unwanted negative energy and invoke positive energy. In the ritual special herbs and twigs are used in a fire to clears the house of any bad energy. 

You can do this yourself by buying the homam ingredients, where you can be easily buy in Indian shop which will cost around RM 10 a box and conducting a simple fire ritual by burning it inside a clay pot. 
Doing this ritual once every month on the eve or the morning of Pournami (Full Moon) would rid off any negative energy that is accumulated in the house and charge your house with Nithya Deivathai shakti - energies from the Full Moon for greater prosperity.

What is Guru Purnima ?
On every full moon in July is the "Full Moon of the Guru" or Guru Purnima, an ancient tradition on the eastern calendar. It is a radiant time when all the celestial teachers, light beings, ascended masters, angels and illumined ones open channels into the earth plane and act as conduits to deliver increased levels of energy and light into the world. It represents spiritual renewal of the planet. The moon is associated with consciousness, particularly with the right brain. Each phase of the moon carries its own special energy. The full moon represents enlightenment, which is the full flowering of consciousness. GURU PURNIMA IS ON 8th JULY THIS YEAR IN 2017

Who is Guru ?
Guru is the person who dispels darkness. Guru can be split into two root words - Gu and Ru. Gu means darkness and Ru is light. The darkness here refers to the lack of clarity in the mind owing to muddled thinking patterns that have formed grooves in the psyche. These thought grooves do not allow a person to progress in life. They are highly limiting in nature and this does not allow an individual to know his true nature, which is a limitless consciousness. A guru is a person who functions like a master sculptor, chiselling a big piece of rock, which is the disciple. He sees the idol in the rock and chips out all the unwanted bits and pieces. What remains is a fine ideal of a personality that was hidden within the maze of confusing thoughts.

The Saptarishi or the Seven Great Sages (Atri, Bhrigu, Pulastya, Vasistya, Gautama, Angirasa and Marichi) are the primeval teachers who continue to guide humanity to the secrets of life and universe. They are known as 'seers' as they are said to possess perfect knowledge about the past, present and future of humanity. On Guru Purnima, grace from these Masters is easily accessible to all those who think of them.

Importance and significance of Guru Purnima
Guru Purnima is one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calender. It is the day when the Guru principle frequencies are 1000 time more active on earth. It is a celebration of the Guru disciple lineage and also a day for the disciple to express his gratitude to the Guru for his spiritual upliftment. 


The Greatness of True Guru
The true Guru only comes to those who are blessed by God, and who are ready to recieve guidence with humility. Understand the rare gift it is to come into contact with such a pure Guru. Listen quietly and sincerely to the untainted words of such a genuine Guru and allow yourself to learn and absorb his teachings to you.

The Guru is considered an embodiment of the archetypes Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. As per a Vedic saying, Guru's form is the basis of meditation, Guru's feet are the basis of worship, Guru's words are the basis of mantra (sacred sound), and Guru's grace is the basis of enlightenment.

On this most important day, meditate on the lotus feet of your Guru. Mentally pray to him for his grace,through which alone can attain Self-realization. If you do not have Guru then pray to Lord Dakshnamurthi or Lord Krishna to purify your heart for arrival of your Guru in this life.

You may study the books or writings of your Guru, or mentally reflect upon his teachings. The best form of worship of the Guru is to follow his teachings, to shine as the very embodiment of his teachings, and to propagate his glory and his message.

Every human being in this world lead life only in search of Guru knowingly or unknowingly. That means any human life in this world is the most certified path towards his Spiritual master only. Hence human life is declared as the most precious one as this only helps attain your Spiritual Master and then God too.

If one does not come across his Guru, what happens then? Then the search for Guru will continues in many lives. So the real meaning of human birth itself is continuation of search (Guru).

Indian Number System
Numbers are Ancient Indian's greatest gift to the world, without no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made. The Indian numbers are the ten digits (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9). They are descended from Indian numeral system by which a sequence of digits such as "401271" is read as a whole number was developed by Indian mathematicians. The Indian numerals were adopted by the Persian mathematicians in India, and passed on to the Arabs further west. The numerals were modified in shape as they were passed along, and developed their European shapes by the time they reached North Africa. From there they were transmitted to Europe in the Middle Ages. The use of Arabic numerals spread around the world through European trade, books and colonialism. Today they are the most common symbolic representation of numbers in the world.

As befitting their history, the digits (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) are also known as Hindu or Hindu-Arabic numerals. There they were (and still are) the digits used by western Arabs from Libya to Morocco. Arabs, on the other hand, call the system "Hindu numerals", referring to their origin in India.

The decimal Hindu-Arabic numeral system was invented in India around 500 CE The system was revolutionary in that it included a zero and positional notation. It is considered an important milestone in the development of mathematics.

President Barack Hussein Obama (1961 - ) is the 44th and current President of the United States. He is the first African American to hold the office. In his trip to India he noted:

Obama made references, both explicit and oblique, to Rabindranath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda, and to the tales of the Panchatantra and to a dictum from the Bhagavad Gita.

US President said: “Instead of succumbing to division, you have shown that the strength of India — the very idea of India — is its embrace of all colours, castes and creeds. It’s the diversity represented in this chamber today. It’s the richness of faiths, celebrated by a visitor to my hometown of Chicago more than a century ago — the renowned Swami Vivekananda. He did not attempt the Sanskrit original “Vasudeva kutumbakam” but everyone smiled at his reference to the Bhagavad Gita. He spoke about how much Mahatma Gandhi meant to him, adding without flourish: “And I am mindful that I might not be standing before you today, as President of the United States, had it not been for Gandhi and the message he shared with America and the world.”

Ancient India’s Contribution in Mathematics, Art, and Architecture.




Introduction

Mathematics, science and technology of ancient India covered many major branches of human knowledge and activities, including physics, astronomy, metallurgy, medical science and surgery, fine arts, civil engineering and architecture, shipbuilding and navigation. According to the 19th century British historian Grant Duff, “Many of the advances in the mathematics and sciences that we consider today to have been made in Europe were in fact made in India centuries ago.” But how much do we all know about it? Such investigation to understand Indian contribution to mathematics, art and architecture, reveals very interesting facts that are the origin of today’s modern world.

Evolution of Mathematics

Mathematics has been considered to be a very important subject since ancient times. We find very elaborate proof of this in the Vedas (which were compiled around 6000 BCE). The concepts of division, addition, concepts of zero and the infinite etc. were used even at that time. We also find roots of algebra in Vedas. People from Arab and other countries used to travel to India for commerce. While doing commerce, they also learnt the easy-to-use calculation methods of India. Through them this knowledge reached Europe. From time to time many inquisitive foreigners who visited India delivered this matchless knowledge to their countries. It is not an exaggeration to say that till 12th century India was the World Guru in the area of Mathematics. The auspicious beginning on Indian Mathematics is in Aadi Granth (ancient/eternal book) Rigved.

Concept of Zero

Most ancient civilizations had no symbol for zero in their number systems because they did not need it. Zero was introduced in the West as late as the beginning of the thirteenth century. Modern society takes the invention of the zero for granted, yet, the Zero is a non-trivial concept that allowed major mathematical breakthroughs. The zero symbol that we now use came from India centuries ago. The Arabs, who learned about it from the mathematicians of India during their travels, introduced it to the rest of the world.

The Decimal System in Harappa

The famous French mathematician, Laplace, said, “The ingenious method of expressing every possible number using a set of ten symbols (each symbol having a place value and an absolute value) emerged in India.” In India a decimal system was already in place during the Harappan period as indicated by an analysis of the Harappan weights and measures. Weights corresponding to ratios of 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 have been identified, as have scales with decimal divisions. A particularly notable characteristic of Harappan weights and measures is their remarkable accuracy. A bronze rod marked in units of 0.367 inches points to the degree of precision demanded in those times. Such scales were particularly important in ensuring proper implementation of town planning rules that required roads of fixed widths to run at right angles to each other, for drains to be constructed of precise measurements, and for homes to be constructed according to specified guidelines.

Mathematical Activity in the Vedic Period

Records of mathematical activity in the Vedic period are mostly to be found in Vedic texts associated with ritual activities. However, as in many other early agricultural civilizations, the study of arithmetic and geometry was also impelled by secular considerations. Thus, to some extent, early mathematical developments in India mirrored the developments in Egypt, Babylon and China.

The system of land grants and agricultural tax assessments required accurate measurement of cultivated areas. In order to ensure that all cultivators had equivalent amounts of irrigated and non-irrigated lands and tracts of equivalent fertility - individual farmers in a village often had their holdings broken up in several parcels to ensure fairness. Since plots could not all be of the same shape - local administrators were required to convert rectangular plots or triangular plots to squares of equivalent sizes and so on. Tax assessments were based on fixed proportions of annual or seasonal crop incomes, but could be adjusted upwards or downwards based on a variety of factors. This meant that an understanding of geometry and arithmetic was virtually essential for revenue administrators. Mathematics was thus brought into the service of both the secular and the ritual domains.

Arithmetic Operation and Geometry

Arithmetic operations (Ganit) such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, squares, cubes and roots are enumerated in the Narad Vishnu Purana attributed to Veda Vyasa (pre-1000 BC). Baudhayana’s Sutra displays an understanding of basic geometric shapes and techniques of converting one geometric shape (such as a rectangle) to another of equivalent (or multiple, or fractional) area (such as a square).

Pingala’s Binary number system

Pingala presents the first known description of a binary numeral system. He described the binary numeral system in connection with the listing of Vedic meters with short and long syllables. The use of zero is sometimes mistakenly ascribed to Pingala due to his discussion of binary numbers, usually represented using 0 and 1 in modern discussion, while Pingala used short and long syllables. Four short syllables (binary “0000″) in Pingala’s system, however, represented the number one, not zero. ? and ? or, ? and ? for heavy (guru) and light (laghu) (long and short). He also contributed to the binomial theorem and his work also contains the basic ideas of Fibonacci number (called maatraameru ).

Aryabhata Sutra for ‘PI’

Mathematics played a vital role in Aryabhata’s revolutionary understanding of the solar system. His calculations on pi, the circumference of the earth (62832 miles) and the length of the solar year (within about 13 minutes of the modern calculation) were remarkably close approximations. His shloka explains as below:
“chaturadhikaM shatamaShTaguNaM
dvAShaShTistathA sahasrANAm
AyutadvayaviShkambhasyAsanno
vr^ttapariNahaH.”

The above shloka’s meaning is: Add 4 to 100, multiply by 8 and add to 62,000. This is approximately the circumference of a circle whose diameter is 20,000. i.e. PI = 62,832 / 20,000 = 3.1416

In making such calculations, Aryabhatta had to solve several mathematical problems that had not been addressed before, including problems in algebra (beej-ganit) and trigonometry (trikonmiti).

Pythogoras Theorem

Pythagoras - the Greek mathematician and philosopher who lived in the 6th century BCE was familiar with the Upanishads and learnt his basic geometry from the Sulva Sutras.

“The square of the hypotenuse of a right angle triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the
other two sides” is a — Pythagorean Theorem (6th century BCE)

An early statement of the Pythagoras theorem was found in Baudhayana’s Sutra: The chord which is stretched across the diagonal of a square produces an area of double the size. His Sutra also contains geometric solutions of a linear equation in a single unknown.

Panini’s Algorithmic Grammar and Formal Scientific Notation

An important development in the history of Indian science that had a profound impact on all mathematical findings that followed was the pioneering work by Panini (6th C BC) in the field of Sanskrit grammar and linguistics. Panini provided formal production rules and definitions describing Sanskrit grammar and phonics.

Basic elements such as vowels and consonants, parts of speech such as nouns and verbs were placed in classes. The construction of compound words and sentences was elaborated through ordered rules operating on underlying structures in a manner similar to formal language theory. Today, Panini’s constructions can also be seen as comparable to modern definitions of a mathematical function.

Vedic Mathematics

Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient system of Mathematics, which was rediscovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960). According to his research, all of mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras or word-formulae. For example, ‘Vertically and Crosswise’ is one of these Sutras. These formulae describe the way the mind naturally works and are therefore a great help in directing the student to the appropriate method of solution.

Perhaps the most important feature of the Vedic system is its coherence. The whole system is beautifully interrelated and unified: the general multiplication method, for example, is easily reversed to allow one-line divisions and the simple squaring method can be reversed to give one-line square roots. These methods are all can be easily understood that makes mathematics easy, enjoyable and encourages innovation. The simplicity of Vedic Mathematics means that calculations can be carried out mentally.

Example of Vedic math simplicity for finding a square of any number:

a) Observe these examples: We get our answer by merely knowing how much is 100 less 97. Knowing that the deficiency is 3, we merely lessen 97 by 3 and then we tag on the squaring of that 3. As a one-line answer, the setting out would appear as thus:
97 Squared = 97 - 3 / 3×3 = 94 / 09 Answer is 9409
96 Squared = 96 - 4 / 4×4 = 92 / 16. Answer is 9216

b)When the number being squared is above the base, of 100 here, we add the Excess and Square the Excess:

104 Squared = 104 + 4 / 4×4 = 108 / 16 = 10, 816
104 x 105 = 104 + 5 / 4×5 = 109 / 20 = 10, 920

c) What if we enlarged our numbers to 998 Squared?

It is close to 1,000 so we say Base 1,000 and know to have 3 zeroes on the right hand side of the ( / ).
998 Squared = 998 – 2 / 2×2 = 996 / _ _ 4 = 996 / 004. = 996,004 Understanding this, you can be calculating digits in the millions: 9998 Squared = 9998 – 2 / 2×2 = 9996 / _ _ _ 4
(Since we are in Base 10,000 the 4 Zeroes determine the need for 4 digits after the ( / ). = 9996 / 0004 = 99,960,004.

Interest in the Vedic system is growing in education where mathematics teachers are looking for something better and finding that the Vedic system is the answer. Research is being carried out in many areas including the effects of learning Vedic Maths on children; developing new, powerful but easy applications of the Vedic Sutras in geometry, calculus, computing etc.

What is Kundalini, Chakra and Nadis ?

Kundalini Yoga and Tantra -The Evolutionary Energy in Man, in which that " the human organism is evolving in the direction indicated by Siddhas, Yogis, Rishis and Sadhus, by the action of the wonderful mechanism located at the base of the spine.
 

Science has yet to explain the extraordinary abilities and feats of the Siddhas, Yogis, Rishis and Sadhus, The Hindu holy men of India. They are believed to have ability to read and transmit thoughts, able to duplicate themselves and appear in two places at once, to give flowers completely different scent, and to call back the spirits of dead. For the Siddhas, Yogis, Rishis and Sadhus, the entire universe is driven by urge, to unite with the divine and this gives them extraordinary powers.

Researchers in the field of parapsychology have studied the mysterious abilities of these holy men, and have confirmed many of these astonishing observations. Modern science, however,generally rejects any notion that Siddhas, Yogis, Rishis and Sadhus posess any extraordinary abilities, because this goes against our rationalistic mode of thought. 

For the Hindus the abilities of Siddhas, Yogis, Rishis and Sadhus are certainly not seen as unusual. Indeed, all the holy scriptures of Hinduism which include the Tamil scriptural classic Tirumantiram, Vedas and Bhagavad-Gita agree that the human soul, the self(atman), is identical with the cosmic principle, the absolute(brahman). Perhaps there is a lesson for the sceptics here, for it seems that deeper we probe into enigmas of human life, the closer we come to the mysterious and unacknowledged forces that dwell within us all.


What is Kundalini ?
According to the philosophy of Tantra, the entire universe is a manifestation of pure consciousness. In manifesting the universe, this pure consciousness seems to become divided into two poles or aspects, neither of which can exist without the other.

One aspect, Shiva, is masculine, retains a static quality and remains identified with unmanifested consciousness. Shiva has the power to be but not the power to become or change.

The other aspect, Shakti, is feminine, dynamic, energetic and creative. Shakti is the Great Mother of the universe, for it is from her that all form is born.

According to Tantra, the human being is a miniature universe. All that is found in the cosmos can be found within each individual, and the same principles that apply to the universe apply in the case of the individual being.

In human beings, Shakti, the feminine aspect is called Kundalini. This potential energy is said to rest at the base of the spinal cord. The object of the Tantric practice of Kundalini-yoga is to awaken this cosmic energy and make it ascend through the psychic centres, the chakras, that lie along the axis of the spine as consciousness potentials. She will then unite above the crown of the head with Shiva the pure consciousness. This union is the aim of Kundalini-yoga: a resolution of duality into unity again, a fusion with the Absolute. By this union the adept attains liberation while living which is considered in Indian life to be the highest experience: an union of the individual with the universe.

Tantra, "The cult of the feminine",is the root of yoga and the most all-inclusive spiritual system ever developed. Yoga is well-known whereas Tantra is in mystery. Yogis and quantum physicists share a wonderful view of the universe as a sea of "quantum foam", of space and time existing not as fixed realities but as mental constructs. The yogi is concerned with this "unspeakable mystery".

What is Chakras ?
Chakras are psychic centres that lie along the axis of the spine as consciousness potentials. The chakras are not materially real and are to be understood as situated, not in the gross body, but in the subtle or etheric body. Repositories of psychic energies, they govern the whole condition of being. They are usually represented as lotuses.

When kundalini is struck, she awakens, uncoils and begin to rise upwards like a fiery serpent, breaking upon each chakra as she ascends, until the Shakti merges with Shiva in sahasrara chakra.
As kundalini reaches each chakra, that lotus opens and lift its flower; and as soon as she leaves for a higher chakra, the lotus closes its petals and hangs down, symbolizing the activation of the energies of the chakra and their assimilation to kundalini.

The increasing number of lotus petals, in ascending order, may be taken to indicate the rising energy or vibration-frequencies of the respective chakras, each functioning as a transformer of energies from one potency to another.

                               

Each of the chakras, according to the Tantras, corresponds to one of the elements of which the known world is compounded. Muladhara represents solidity; Svadhisthana, liquidity; Manipura, the gaseous; Anahata, the aerial; Vishuddha, the etheric, or space. One can see the whole process as a progressive transformation of the elements, with an increase of volatility.

This ascent through the chakras can be viewed as an upward journey through the self which refines and subtilizes the energy that is the kundalini, until at the sixth chakra, the Ajna, centre of command, a qualitative change has taken place

What is Nadis ?
In addition to the seven chakras of the subtle body, the Tantras have described a network of subtle channels known as Nadis. According to the tantric treatise Shiva Samhita, there are fourteen principal nadis.

Of these, Ida, Pingala and Sushumna are considered the most important. Ida is the left channel. Ida is white, feminine, cold, represents the moon and is associated with the river Ganga (Ganges). Originating in Muladhara, Ida ends up in the left nostril. Pingala is the right channel. Pingala is red, masculine, hot, represents the sun and is associated with the river Yamuna. Originating in Muladhara, Pingala ends up in the right nostril. Sushumna is the central channel and is associated with the river Saraswati. Running up the body from just below

Muladhara is the meeting place of the three main nadis and is known as Yukta Triveni (Yukta : "combined", tri : "three", veni : "streams"). In Muladhara, Shakti, the static unmanifested Kundalini, is symbolized by a serpent coiled into three and a half circles around the central axis Svayambhu-linga at the base of the spine. The serpent lies blocking the entrance to Sushumna, the central channel with his mouth. Sushumna remains closed at its lower end as long as Kundalini is not awakened.

The technique of Kundalini Yoga consists in using Prana (the vital air), guiding its circulatory movement through Ida and Pingala down to the base of the spine into the space where Kundalini lies coiled. Shakti Kundalini will then awaken and rise up Sushumna, energizing the seven chakras.

What is Homam?

Homam are pujas performed for a particular deity by invoking Agni – God of fire. Homam is refers to any kind of "ritual in offerings" that is made into a consecrated fireplace. Homas are an important religious practice in Hinduism, where they are a part of most of the ceremonies, in all creeds and castes.

During a Homam, various rituals are performed successively in order to trigger various positive energies and also to develop the right sensation during the Homa. Some of these rituals are common and must be practiced before any fire ritual. After these rituals are executed, the main Homa would instigate; wherein the rituals differ depending on which deity you want to invoke.

The goal of all Homams is the prosperity of the people at large by energizing and protecting the environment. The Sun is considered as the main source of energy supply, and fire is considered as a representation of the Sun’s energy. According to the ancient texts on Homams, any offer to Fire as God, is actually an offer to Sun. Any such offer is either to enrich energy in the environment or to destroy the undesirable elements in the environment, and thus, in both ways, environment is protected. The Ghee and other ingredients that used in homams when burnt purufies air and atmosphere as they have medicinal values. The some that emerges from the Homam Kunda mixes with wind and spreads to far and wide. Perhaps this is the best method one can say that Hindus identified to purify the environment at a very low cost which the modern technology yet fails to do.

Homas can be performed for kundalini activation, marriage, health, career, success, business, wealth and prosperity. They can be performed for fulfillment of any worthy goals or desires.

Homams can be performed for any desires, goal, issues or problems. So they can be requested for any purpose or motivation, as long as they are for highest good.

When a sadhaka(aspirant) participates with sincere devotion in a homam acivities and as various offerings like molten butter, herbs, twigs of certain trees are offered into the sacrificial fire along with the powerful chanting of mantras, the energy generated enables the sadhaka to tune into the Cosmic consciousness or God, whereby his prayers are answered. It is well known that the presence of fire has an immediate bearing on the sadhaka's Kundalini and the energy fields of that place, which makes the prayers all the more sincere and dedicated to God. The time taken to perform a homa varies between 1 hour to 3 hours, depending on the nature of the homam.
Homams can be performed for neutralization, transcendence and alleviation of difficult karma, for appeasement of sufferings, for removal of obstacles and blockages, for dissolution of crisis, for clarity through chaos, for healing of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances, for protection from dangerous situation, and for reversal of already manifested problems.

Homas influence and modify your DNA. Eventually you realize that the functioning of your mind is different. Your perception of reality changes and evolves, therefore your suffering diminishes, answers and solutions are provided to you mare and more spontaneously, you start to feel happier and more joyful, and you have more peace of mind.
