Siddhas, Yogis & Rishis of India

The greatest contribution of India to the world is her material and spiritual science. No civilization, however old it be, has ever attained the level of sophistication, reached by the great ancient Siddhas, Yogis and Rishis of India in material and spiritual science.

What they had was not just intelligence but intuition. They could see, hear or feel beyond the realm of the five senses. They did not need telescopes, microscope or other scientific equipments to unravel the mysteries of the cosmos. They only relied on the most powerful instrument in the world the human soul which has it in a latent sense, omniscience and omnipotence.

The earth plane was actually designed as a laboratory for the evolution of souls, so the GOD send us His reprsentatives in the form of Siddhas, Yogis and Rishis to show us the way. This great souls are in every part of the world, but particularly in India and especially in Tamil Nadu, the land of the Mystics.

In India all scientific truths are imbibed in routine life, by explaining them through Puranic Stories. Through tradition or custom, all scientific truths are brought to the stage of implementation in day-to-day life

In this Blog im Decoding the Hindu Sacred Stories, Symbols, Myth, Rituals and Worships for Today`s Modern World Scientifically. Many doubts such as the connection between the Universal Soul, the One God and myriad gods and goddesses, Hindu rituals, practices and their symbolism, the caste system and concepts such as karma, dharma and reincarnation are explained in a simplified and scientific form.

VIDYA - EDUCATION
Education, which cannot give peace to the soul or cannot give the knowledge of the Self and the inner satisfaction, is not education. Education, which cannot wipe the tears of others, known or unknown, is not education. Education is understanding the situation - leading the life that can make the life, the Life Divine, where the ultimate goal of the life is the God-Realisation.

THREE STAGES OF HUMAN EVOLUTION

- Animal to Man ( Mooladhara to Anahata )
- Man to Man ( Anahata to Ajna )
- Man to Divine ( Ajna to Sahasrara )

GOLDEN AGE / SATYUGAM
During 2012, the Sun, Earth and Karthigai star, will be in alignment resulting in more of the grace light entering the Earth plane. Thereafter, it is predicted that the Karthigai - Lord Murugan energy will be responsible for the transformation of the planet and of the genetic evolution of the human species into Gods and Goddesses status. This energy will allow humans to return to their original blueprint. The most important thing to remember about these new energies is to stay conscious and match our frequency to receieve it through proper worships, rituals, yoga and mystical knowledge according to great siddha masters.

ANCIENT SIDDHA MASTERS
The Siddhas were scientists, particularly in their investigations into chemistry, astronomy, plants, human anatomy and physiology. They applied their extraordinary powers, developed through intensive yogis practices, to research these areas on atomic and universal levels without the use of sophisticated equipment. In the long linege of Siddhas, one does not know when they came into earth's existance. Whether they still exist or are they Ascended masters teaching humanity the various sciences and philosophy, will perhaps, be never known.

SIDDHAS TEACHINGS
In the teachings of the Siddhas the human body is a temple of God. Man is a miniature representation of Paramatma or Supreme Intelligence. The purpose of life is to realize God.To manifest that realization in all planes of existence.

SIDDHAS MEDICINE
Using special salts as well as herbal formulae the Siddhas developed the unique science of rejuvenation, known as "kaya kalpa", which allowed them to prolong their lives until the long term effects of Kriya Kundalini Pranayama and similar yogic practices could complete the process of transformation, bringing about physical immortality.

Siddhas followed the ancient Guru- disciple apprenticeship method. They revealed their secrets to those students whom they felt could be trusted not to misuse the science. The science of Kaya kalpa was limited to those great sages. who were prepared for the uplifting of humanity. Ayurveda came much later as discipline.

SIDDHAS SECRET KNOWLEDGE
The Siddhas had vast knowledge of human anatomy. Their single-minded concentration was unique. It was was achieved with perfection. Their literature on medicine was extensive. The Siddhas were a close-knit community and preferred to preserve their knowledge. They reduced this knowledge to codes and symbols and their literature was steeped in mysticism. Only a Siddha can decode the writings of a Siddha. A beginner could not gain any appreciable knowledge without the Siddha accepting him as a student.

THE SCIENCE OF YOGA
Siddhas such as Thirumoolar, Agastyar, Boganathar, and many more had realized their capacity for experiencing and manifesting the Divine. This was not only limited to the spiritual plane of existence. The Cosmic Spirit would descend into the more lower and gross planes of consciousness, the intellectual, mental, and physical bodies. This for us is a limiting thought as our yogic parasites are not as intense as the Siddha. With progressive surrender of their being , their ego and their very lives the Divine would indeed transform them. With intense practices of various Kriyas, hatha and bhakti yoga, meditation, mantras and Kriya Kundalini Pranayama they merged with the Cosmic Spirit . This was race against time as the natural breakdown of cells, catabolism, had to be reversed to anabolism to prolong the extent of their age. They had to complete the Divine transformation. With Kriya Kundalini yoga and using specific herbal and mineral salts they were able to prolong their youth for the Ultimate transformation.

SIDDHANTHAM
The Universe was created out of a Cosmic Thought . No civilization be it the Inca, Atlantis or Egyptian had such a precise knowledge as the Siddhas. They were proficient in the science of longevity or deathless state, alchemy, medicine and physics.

Pradosham - Technology of Karma Removal

Lord Shiva requested Siddha Thirumular (also known as Sundarar, one of 63 saivite saints) who was helping God Shiva, to bring the poison to Him. Thirumular immediately brought the poison in a shape of a ball about the size of a Navakani and handed over to God Shiva. God Shiva then swallowed this poison which stuck to His throat blue in colour.

Removing Sins with Pradosham Technology
Pradosham literally means the removal of sins ( Pra - Removal , Dosham - Sin). Pradosham is a specific window of time that occurs during the day. The energy during this time makes it easier to dissolve and release karma. Stories, prayers and rituals have been built around this time to help us better work with and understand the significance of these karma busting energies.

There are different energy levels to Pradosham depending on which day of the month that it occurs. Each energy level indicates how much karma may be released at that time. Pradosham are a gift from the Universe to help speed our evolution and make our lives easier and happier.

The Saturday pradosham is a very powerful pradosham, called the great pradosham or Maha pradosham especially if it fall during Waning Moon (Dark Moon period) as the first pradosham observed in ancient times is said to have been on a Saturday. Monday Pradoshams are also special because Mondays are most fit for Lord Shiva and it is the day ruled by His consort goddess Parvathi.

When does it occur?
- All Pradoshams occur between 1-1/2 hours before and right up until the moment of sunset in the time zone where you are physically. The smaller energy level Pradoshams occur every day during this time.

- The middle energy level Pradoshams occur twice each month - on the 13th moon day after the New Moon and after the Full Moon. To determine on which days these Pradosham occur, begin your count on the actual New Moon or Full Moon day and count that day as "1". Continue the count until you reach "13". If you are counting from the Full Moon, Pradosham will normally occur two days before the next New Moon, and if you are counting from the New Moon Pradosham will normally occur two days before the next Full Moon.

-The larger energy level Pradosham occurs when one of the 13th moon days occurs on a Saturday. The planet Saturn is considered the Lord of Karma who delivers many of life's tougher lessons to help us refine and evolve their souls. On a Saturday Pradosham it is believed that Lord Shiva has more influence over Saturn and can cause Saturn to loosen or release entirely some of the karmic bonds that limit us.

Be in a meditative mode during the pradosham time and chant the "Thiru Neela Kantam" mantra by focusing your mind in throat region. If can try to visualize blue colour while you chant this powerful mantra with focusing around your throat region.

Pradosham and God Realization
The purpose of our human life is God realization. But Siddhas tell you that you can get to your life purpose only when your karma has been wiped clean, and the time is ripe for grace to flow to you. When that happens an intense flowering happens, and both the material and spiritual worlds open up for you. You have a choice then on the abundance that you are presented with.

Whether you take the spiritual or material route, one thing is certain: you have to completely eliminate your karma to even to get there. Pradosham rituals give a great opportunity to build a road to prosperity and true happiness. On the 13th Moon Pradosham days, special poojas are offered to Lord Shiva who eliminates your karma and helps to bring light into your life.

“Sayana Sivan” or Lord Shiva is seen in human form resting His head on the lap of Goddess Parvathi in PalliKondeswarar Alayam, Surutapalli

Nandikeswaran
Nandi or the divine bull has a special place in Lord Shiva`s heart. Nandi is the privileged one who carries flowers to Mt. Kailash, the abode of Lord Shiva. Nandi is not a mere bull but a divine Sage who has guided endless number of Rishis. Even now when one prays with devotion to Nandi, you can see miraculous results happening. Nandi is the one who carried the poisons from Paarkadal to Kailas hill and later Thirumular change the poison in a shape of a ball about Navakanni and handed over to Lord Shiva to swallowed.

There are many levels of benefit from Pradosham. On the most immediate, practical level it is an opportunity to cleanse and release more of the karmic poisons that can limit our freedom and happiness.

God Shiva performed Ananda Thandavam (cosmic dance) in between the horns of Nandikeswarer

If one observes
- one day Pradosham pooja, it is equivalent to 15 days temple worship
- 11 days Pradosham Poojas, it is equivalent to observing on temple Kumbabishegam
- If one observes 120 Pradoshams, it is believed that one will have no more births
- If one observes Maha Pradoshams, which falls on a Saturday, one will attain the blessings and benefits from Lord Shiva equivalent to praying for 5 years

Puranam
The esoteric benefits of Pradosham are outlined in part of a wonderful story of when the angels and demons in Ancient times joined together to try and get an elixir of immortality. They used a magical snake that volunteered to serve as a rope to churn a magical mountain in a magical ocean of milk. The angels pulled from the snake's tail and demons pulled from the snake's head. They worked very hard and were rewarded with many gifts that emerged from the ocean, including Goddess Lakshmi, who is the Hindu equivalent of Venus. Eventually the elixir emerged. However, fate turned the moment of victory into a terrible disaster. The snake was in so much pain from the constant pulling that it vomited poison just as the elixir emerged. The elixir and the entire area started burning from the poison. No one was able to stop the destruction so the angels and demons prayed for help.

The story continues that Lord Shiva heard their prayers, gathered up the poison with and swallowed it, saving the elixir along with everyone and everything. By goddess Parvathi command, the poison froze in the Lords throat, painting it blue and becoming an embellishment, gave Him the name Neelakantan. [It is also a common practice for womanhood to worship Goddess Parvathi for long life of Husbands as She is having Maangalya Baagyam and could turn the poison into nectar].

NOTE : Pradosham Time in Malaysia & Singapore

The actual Pradosham time in Malaysia and Singapore is from 5.00pm to 7 pm but unfortunately most of the temple mistakenly observing from 4.30 pm to 6 pm just by simply following temples in India. In India the Sun set time is at 6.00pm but in Malaysia and Singapore the Sun set time is at 6.30pm. Pradosham occur between 1-1/2 hours before and right up until the moment of sunset. Enlighten your local temple head or priest by giving this article and start to observe the ritual for Pradosham at the right time. Remember, what you do is important but when you do it is just important. The efficacy of spiritual practices can be increased greatly by timing it according to Siddha injunctions.

The Origin of Hinduism and Yoga - By Vijayakumar Alagappan

Hinduism and Yoga is mainly derived from Tantra / Tantric (contributed by South Indian Siddha masters) not from the Veda / Vedic (North Indian Mystics). Of these two path, it appears Tantric teachings has had influence on the birth and growth of Hinduism and Yoga. Swami Satyananda Saraswathy, the founder of the Bihar Yoga (disciple of Swami Sivananda, founder of Divine Life Society), who writes : " it should be remembered that present day of  Hinduism almost entirely based on Tantra: it is not completely based on the Vedas as so many people think."

Most forms of Yoga and Hinduism have their physical and spiritual roots in the ancient soil of Tantra (Kumarikandam / Lumeria) in South India, not in the Vedas, as most Hindu scholars in the North India wants us to believe. In fact, it was Tantra that first influenced the Vedas.

The greatest contribution of India to the world is her material and spiritual science. No civilization, however old it be, has ever attained the level of sophistication, reached by the great ancient Siddhas, Yogis and Rishis of India in material and spiritual science.

The most powerful time to do a puja is when the vara day of a planet aligns with the tithi opposite it on the kalachakram. These certain days are very powerful for planetary propitiations. For example, worshipping the Sun on Shasti or Chaturdasi is auspicious because they are tithis ruled by its kalachakra opposite. Worshipping the Moon on Panchami and Trayodashi is auspicious because these tithis are ruled by the Moon’s opposite, Jupiter. Jupiter upaya is most powerful on a Thursday that falls on a Dvitiya or Dasami. When Thursday falls on a dasami it is called Sudasa vratam, which means the good dasa (time period) begins and the bad dasa ends. There are various rituals performed on that day. Worshipping a Mercury rupa is auspicious on Ashtami and Amavasai to destroy remove the evil effects of Rahu. When Wednesday falls on an Ashtami it is called Buddhastami, where the Rahu deluding the memory of Mercury can be removed with appropriate rituals. So propitiations for these planets should be done on the most powerful days. These days are used when a certain upayam like a single puja is advised to remove the ill effects of a planet.

Can You Make Money ?
View Image

Hard work, initiative, enterprise, shrewdness and possessive instinct are essential for making money. Those born in the Zodiacal Sun signs of Capricorn, Taurus, Cancer or Scorpio hang on to money and possessions and make good money; those born under Aquarius, Aries and leo signs also make money and spend money wisely.

Those born under Gemini, Libra and Sagittarius lack possessive instinct. They tend to let money and possessions slip though they create new sources of income. Pisces borns wil have fluctuating fortunes, as the money earned may go in for speculation and unwise spending. For Virgo borns, the earning capacity is not high. Due to social responsibility or otherwise, they get risky nd badly-paid jobs.

Guru

Guru is the person who dispels darkness. Guru can be split into two root words - Gu and Ru. Gu means darkness and Ru is light. The darkness here refers to the lack of clarity in the mind owing to muddled thinking patterns that have formed grooves in the psyche. These thought grooves do not allow a person to progress in life. They are highly limiting in nature and this does not allow an individual to know his true nature, which is a limitless consciousness. A guru is a person who functions like a master sculptor, chiselling a big piece of rock, which is the disciple. He sees the idol in the rock and chips out all the unwanted bits and pieces. What remains is a fine ideal of a personality that was hidden within the maze of confusing thoughts.

While we talk of a guru as a person - one who ideally teaches a spiritual way of life to the disciples, anyone who is a master in any area of expertise is called a guru. We have therefore a music guru, a dance guru, an art guru or even a guru for financial and materials management and corporate gurus. In its essence, guru is not a person, but a quality. Anything that helps to dispel the confusions in our mind and give clarity - there the guru expresses through them.

The gurus that we come across outside of us as masters, teachers and swamis are a total manifestation of this dimension of the universe called the guru. The true Guru only comes to those who are blessed by God, and who are ready to recieve guidence with humility. Understand the rare gift it is to come into contact with such a pure Guru. Listen quietly and sincerely to the untainted words of such a genuine Guru and allow yourself to learn and absorb his teachings to you.

Siddhar Thirumular

 Siddhar Thirumular

Siddhar Thirumular (also spelt Thirumoolar etc., originally known as Sundaranatha) was a Tamil Shaivite mystic and writer, considered one of the sixty-three Nayanars and one of the 18 Siddhars. His main work, the Thirumantiram, which consists of over 3000 verses, forms a part of the key text of the Tamil Saiva Siddhanta, the Thirumurai.

Thirumantiram contains a synthesis of knowledge drawn from the Upanishads, Siddhayoga and the devotional (Bhakti) revival, yet criticises ritualistic idolatry and the external gymnastics of occult practice. It is deep, simple, cryptic and polyvalent.

Saint Thirumular began his mission of establishing the purity of the Saivite path soon thereafter when he settled down near Chidambaram, an ancient temple of Lord Siva as Nataraja, the King of Dancers. There he worshipped near a Banyan tree where there was a Swayambhu Lingam. That Lingam is revered by Saivites even today in a small shrine within the Chidambaram walls, and you can worship there on pilgrimage just as he did so long ago. It was there that he began composing the Tirumantiram. Legend has it that the sage retired to a cave where he would sit in samadhi for a full year without moving. At the end of each year he would break his meditation long enough to speak out a single Tamil verse giving the substance of that year's meditations. Each verse composed in this manner was just four lines long, but the wisdom each contained was boundless. He wrote over 3,000 verses in all.

This may not be accurate by the calendar, but it is true to the spirit and quality of the Thirumantiram, which has within it the wisdom of three thousand years of meditation. It is without a doubt the most complete and authoritative scripture ever written.

It is said that the Chidambaram temple is consecrated under the auspices of Tirumular with a kopuram having 21600 golden tiles, to show a man breaths in and out 21600 times per day. 72000 nails, were used to show, that there are 72,000 nadis in our body. It can also be taken that if one breathes 21600 proper breaths a day then his 72000 nadis will be purified. There are millions of nadis but the major ones are 72000.

HINDUISM IS THE OLDEST LIVING CULTURE IN THE WORLD

Look around. Do you find any other culture that has lasted as long as the Hindu or Vedic culture? Do you see any other culture that after no less than 5,000 years, if not much longer, is still thriving and dynamic, practicing many of the same traditions as it did from thousands of years ago? Sure, you have other old cultures, like the Egyptian, the Inca, Maya, Aztec, all of which go back about 5,000 years, but none of these are still living cultures. They are all gone, leaving us but remnants and artifacts to figure out what really was their culture.

For the Vedic civilization, it is not something that we really need to decipher from old remnants. The traditions and practices that you presently see have been going on for many thousands of years. Its history is well documented in the Puranas, much of which even historians have not researched as well as they should. Through such study it is obvious that the Vedic society has a prehistoric origin. While most of the "living" cultures that we find today, and the most popular religions, are a modern creation in the sense that they have only come about within the past 1400, 2000, and 2500 years with the advent of the Muslim, Christian, or Buddhist religions. However, the Vedic culture goes back much farther. Many scholars have noted the antiquity of the Vedic civilization. For example, in his Discourse on Sanskrit and Its Literature, given at the College of France, Professor Bournouf states, "We will study India with its philosophy and its myths, its literature, its laws and its language. Nay it is more than India, it is a page of the origin of the world that we will attempt to decipher."

In this same line of thinking, Mr. Thornton, in his book History of British India, observed, "The Hindus are indisputably entitled to rank among the most ancient of existing nations, as well as among those most early and most rapidly civilized. . . ere yet the Pyramids looked down upon the Valley of the Nile. . . when Greece and Italy, these cradles of modern civilization, housed only the tenants of the wilderness, India was the seat of wealth and grandeur."

The well-known German philosopher Augustus Schlegel in his book, Wisdom of the Ancient Indians, noted in regard to the divine origin of Vedic civilization, "It cannot be denied that the early Indians possessed a knowledge of the God. All their writings are replete with sentiments and expressions, noble, clear, severely grand, as deeply conceived in any human language in which men have spoken of their God. . ."

Max Mueller further remarked in his India--What It Can Teach Us (Page 21), "Historical records (of the Hindus) extend in some respects so far beyond all records and have been preserved to us in such perfect and legible documents, that we can learn from them lessons which we can learn nowhere else and supply missing links."

On the antiquity of the Vedic society, we can respect the number of philosophies, outlooks on life, and developments in understanding our purpose in this world that has been imbibed and dealt with during the course of its existence. Through all of this, it has formed a commentary and code on all aspects of life and its value, the likes of which can hardly be found in any other culture today. Thus, with age comes wisdom. And the nature and depth of the Vedic wisdom can hardly be compared with anything else that is presently available. Anyone who has taken a serious look at it will agree. It is universally applicable to all.
