Narmada Bana Lingam

The sacred Narmada river is one of the Sapta Gangas, the seven holy rivers in India. The legends identify it as the 'sweat' flowing out of Lord Shiva's own body, when He performed his Cosmic dance "Ananda Thandava" and therefore considered as the holiest of the rivers. On the river bank of the Narmada is Omkareshwar, the most famous among the twelve Jyothirlingams. Many Vedic scriptures propound that the natural Narmada Banalingams are self-manifest respresentations of Lord Shiva. What Salagramas are to Lord Maha Vishnu that Narmada Bana Lingas are to Lord Shiva.

The Composition and Symbolism of Narmada Lingams
It is the considered view of many researchers and geologists that the unique composition of the Narmada Shiva Lingams was due to the impregnation of its rocky river-sides and the rocks in the river bed, 14 million years ago by a large meteorite that crashed into the Narmada river. The fusion of the Meteorite and the Earthly Minerals has spawned a new and unique type of Crystalline Rock, with extraordinary energetic qualities - the Narmada Bana Lingams. Over a period of time, the impregnated rocks split into rock bits and pebbles and were moulded by strong and forceful currents of the Narmada river, which naturally tumbled and produced perfectly shaped and polished Shiva Lingams.

Regular worship of the Narmada Bana Lingam with the sacred mantras cause many intense and invisible effects. It is said that the sacred and powerful sounds from such mantras cause a powerful internal reverberation, which is absorbed by the Bana Lingam. With consistent worship, this energy is slowly released and emitted to the surrounding environments, and is specially known to have the capacity to negate the accumulated karmic burdens of its worshipper; in other words, the Bana Lingam dissolves the negative karmic baggage (negative karma) carried by the individual.

Rudraksha - divine gift of nature

The Tears of Lord Siva that are Rudraksha, are the original Beads of Power worn by the Yogis of India for thousands of years to maintain health and to gain self empowerment and fearless life on their path to Enlightenment and Liberation. The many Devotees of Truth who deliberately live their lives according to Eternal Natural Law that is Sanatana Dharma Know that Rudraksha Beads are a Gift from The Almighty God and are a Natural Birth Right of the Mankind.

Rudra" is the name of Lord Shiva whereas "Aksha" means tears. It is said that the plant of Rudraksha has originated from the tear drops of Lord Shiva. As per the Vedic scriptures, Rudraksha can nullify the effects of malefic planets to a great extent. No other bead is considered to be as auspicious and powerful as a Rudraksha.

According to the ancient mystics, effects of the beads of Rudraksha work by just by sight, touch of the hand and the body. rudraksha distracts the evil eye. It has the power of electro-magnetic, para-magnetic inductive property, and Dynamic Polarity, which differ in different mukhis.

Rudraksha, is the most powerful and awesome bead ever. This bead can help you achieve all you want - a healthy mind, body and soul, a wealthy life that many dream of and only some achieve, and a happy you.

How do we choose a good rudraksha ?
Many get confused with the shape and size of rudraksha . One should not seriously worry about it. Just see that the Mukhi is well defined, corns and contours are natural, and there are no cracks near the central hole. The bead has to be lustrous and healthy and devoid of deep cracks and insect holes .

Rudraksha beads can be dipped in milk or water and the same is to be consumed or taken as first thing in the morning.

How do the beads work ?
Rudraksha beads work on different chakras of human body as well on different planets and invite blessings from Gods. They work best when worn on body. Touching skin is not necessary for rudraksha beads to show effect. But method of wearing is very important. Just as gems work when worn on specific fingers , similarly rudraksha work when worn at specific parts of the body in a specific manner.

Do rudraksha suit all skins ?
Rudraksha is hot in nature. Some people cannot wear it . Their skin shows signs of allergy. In that case you may keep the beads in Puja room and offer daily prayers

People ask , Can ladies wear?
Yes, they can. According to our holy books , Rudraksha can be worn at all times by everybody .

"Is it that only Hindus can wear?"
No, All can wear. Ancient texts have not limited wearing of these beads to any caste , religion or sex . Some ancient texts also talk of animals wearing them and achieving salvation.

"Does it bring luck?"
Yes, Shiva Purana specially describe that Lakshmi stays where Rudraksha is.

"Can the family members keep interchanging Neck Malas, Japa Malas or Rudraksha beads?"
No. There is a relationship between the wearer and Rudraksha, which is very private and must not be shared. But it can be willed and passed on to the next generation.

Choosing Rudraksha

The best way to choose rudraksha is by reading the properties of the beads and selecting the ones that closely match with what you desire. Our ancients puranas specify properties of the beads only with regards to the different gods and goddess that reside in each specific bead and do not mention any relation whatsoever with their astrological properties. Rudraksha can be chosen by Purpose, Therapy or by Rashi. One bead or multiple beads of different mukhi may be combined together.

1 Mukhi Rudraksha
The One mukhi Rudraksha is the symbol of Godhood, Supreme Truth and Attainment of Eternity. The One mukhi Rudraksha is itself Lord Shankar and it is the main among all rudrakshas of all faces. It is ruled by the Sun and enlightens the Super Consciousness. It brings the power of Dharana to the wearer meaning the power to concentrate the mind on an object. The wearer of One mukhi Rudraksha gets his mental structure changed and he begins to feel renunciation from the worldly affairs and naturally inclines towards GOD. His mind begins to concentrate on the Supreme Element that is Partattva Dharana cha jayate Tatprakashnam thus the discoverers of Aatma Tattva must wear One Mukhi Rudraksha .

2 Mukhi Rudraksha
2 Mukhi Rudraksha effectively control the malefic effects of Moon such as diseases of Left eye, kidney, intestine in physical level and in the spiritual level such as lack of harmony in relationship etc. Two faced Rudraksha has natural two lines or faces. It is oval in shape and is available in two varieties – Nepal and Haridwar (India). It is the symbol of ArdhaNareeshwara, a joint image of the Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati (Shakti). In this image we see both in one body. It brings unity like the family unity in form, speech and Meaning. Being capable of getting riches and virtuous off springs by wearing two faced Rudraksha, it’s wearer becomes capable of leading peaceful and sacred life and the wearer’s family finds the reverence and faith continuously increasing among them. Removing the differences of opinions between the Teacher & the pupil, the father and the son, the husband and the wife, and friends, it establishes unity between them.

3 Mukhi Rudraksha

3 Mukhi Rudraksha Bead is known to be one of the most powerful Rudraksha for stopping all problems created in the past and existing in the present moment and about to take place in the Future. This Rudraksha Bead combined with appropriate Mantras helps to dramatically change a persons life for the better in the 40 days it takes to complete an initial Mantra Discipline. The 3 Mukhi Rudraksha Bead is a life saver. The wearer feels its influence by attaining success in his efforts, favourable means, learning and knowledge. Its best virtue is that it makes the wearer free from chronic fever certainly. It contains the Trinity of Gods: Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.

4 Mukhi Rudraksha
4 mukhi Rudraksha has four linings from head to bottom at equal distance. Its ruling planet is Jupiter. The power of Brahma exists in its whole effectiveness and Divinity. Being influenced by the creative wisdom of the four headed Lord Brahma, it gives the wearer the creative power and provides him learning and knowledge. The dull mined students must wear it. And it is beneficial to scientists, researchers, intellectuals, artists, writers and journalists. In mythology it represents Goddess Saraswati and Brahma. Malefic effects of Jupiter include intellectual dullness of mind, lack of grasping and understanding power, difficulty in effective communication and also neurotic conditions of mind. This mukhi also governs logical and concrete and structural thinking. It increases wit and intelligence. If the three beads of four faced Rudraksha are fastened in the right hand nobody can be stand to face to the wearer. Boil the Rudraksha in milk and drink for 21 days to improve memory.

5 Mukhi Rudraksha
5 mukhi Rudraksha is the form of Rudra named Kaalagni. The wealth, in the form of learning that man gains in the world, should be apparent and permanent only then it is meaningful. Five faced Rudraksha is useful for this purpose. In the long run we lose our power to maintain the learning that we have gained and at last it vanishes. We forget the acquired learning or cannot remember the lost learning only after wearing the five faced Rudraksha. Agni (fire) purifies the metals and similarly five faced Rudraksha rectifies all the vices and faults of Jeeva and makes him pure and Jeeva gains the form of Pashupati i.e. the Lord of all creatures after becoming free from the animal instincts. By wearing its mala the wearer’s mind remains peaceful. There is no suspicion about the fact that the wearer of Five faced Rudraksha mala never gets untimely death.

6 Mukhi Rudraksha
6 mukhi Rudraksha is the center of the power of Lord Shiva’s second son, Kumar Kartikeya. It gives learning, wisdom and knowledge and increases will power. Moreover, it saves us from the worldly sorrows. A combination of four face Rudraksha and six face Rudraksha enhances the vocal & mental power of the wearer amazingly. It is very good for company managers, businessmen, journalists and editors etc. Lord Kartikeya rules over planet Mars, so wearing this Rudraksha removes malefics associated with planet Mars. The afflictions and influences of Mars can cause cuts, wounds, surgery, injury by weapons, itching of the skin, bone fractures, hemorrhoids, miscarriages and abortions. Wearing six Mukhi rudraksha helps in controlling the malefic effects of Mars and increases the concentration. Six Mukhi rudraksha is very dear to Lord Kartikeya and is the source of his energy.

12 Mukhis Rudraksha
Represents the 12 abodes of Sun. Confers Universal recognition.

Planets controlling the dasa period and the necessary Rudrakshas to be worn
One- faced for Sun, Two-faced for Moon, Three-faced for Mars, Four-faced for Mercury, Five-faced for Jupiter, Six-faced for Venus, Seven-faced for Saturn, Eight-faced for Rahu, Nine-faced for Ketu.

For fertility, both the husband and wife should wear Garbha Gauri Shankara Rudraksha. For a happy married life, wear Gauri Shankara Rudraksha, on the day of Akshaya Tritiyai.

How to preserve the Rudraksha - Keep the Rudraksha in mustard oil for few days and then wash it with soap-nut powder.

Rudrakhsas of different mukhis please different planets. Each one has control on one of the nine planets. They receive constructive vibration from the planets. Its power of receiving vibration is incredible and it works like a transformer emitting positive vibrations incessantly. Rudraksha has the power of electro-magnetic inductive property, and Dynamic Polarity. The electro-magnetic and para-magnetic vidrations differ in different mukhis. It sends specific electric impulses to the brain through the process of reflex, which stimulates the brain centres and transfers information in the Neuro physicology, and cures various ailments.

Matha Shivarathiri

The significance of Matha (monthly) Shivarathiri is not so commonly known, which falls on the Krishna paksha Chaturdasi (14th Wanning Moon) every month or the night preceding the Ammavasai (New Moon). The very moment we hear the name Shivarathiri most of us thought the Maha Shivarathiri. It is primarily only this Maha Shivarathiri (The Shivarathri that occurs during the month of February or the Tamil month of Maasi) that is given the predominance now. So it's on this Maha Shivarathiri that we do the meditation, mantra chanting, poojas during the night time and try to keep ourselves awake the whole night.

Matha Shivarathiri when falls on Tuesday becomes highly auspicious.

But many people are not aware that the monthly Shivarathiri too carries equal importance. During monthly Shivarathiri we need to concentrate on lots of chanting, worships and meditation during the night time. It's during this night time that the negative forces or the asura shakthis' take up their higher hand. So to protect ourselves against their vibrations we need to do lot of rituals and chantings.

The Significance of Meditation during Matha Shivarathiri

The moon, which is the presiding deity of the mind of man, wanes until the fourteenth day after full moon. The mind should be starved into the condition, so that man becomes free of karmic thoughts. When there is no Moon there will be no thoughts from mind which will be favourable to do powerful meditation. Meditation on Shivarathiri when there is no Moon will be tremendously successful even for a great yogis.

Chant Hmmm Nama Shivaya - 108 times at Matha Shivarathiri Night

Science of Maha Shiva Ratri

Festivals in India include the Scientific wisdom in four different fields of sciences. Climatology, Astronomy, Siddha Vaidyam / Ayur Vedam and Human Physiology. Human body is susceptible for the changes in the cyclical motions of the moon and sun. The impact of these changes are closely documented by the advanced researchers in the field of biofarming and organic farming. The ascent and descent of the moon have the impact on the growth of the plants and all cellular structures, including on the germination of the plants.

What is the simplest way of appeasing Lord Shiva?
Offering him Vilvam leaves.

Ancient mystics of India understood that these changes also affect at certain seasonal transitions and devised the methods for the natural adaptations for these changes. Festivals are celebrated for these adaption. Maha Shiva Rathiri comes exactly at this seasonal transition from the Winter to Spring. All nature and cosmos covered by the space and time undergoes three phenomenon. Creation, Growth, and Dissolution. The time span of these cycles change. Stars and Galaxies may have a cycle of millions of light years and species may have few hours. These three aspects are called as the Brahma Tatva, Vishnu Tatva and Maheswara Tatva. During the rotation around the sun the earth, along with all associated creation on the earth, undergoes three faces of Time. These are called as “Kalams” in the Sasthraas. They are Spring Time (Usha Kalam), Monsoon Time (Varsha Kalam) and Winter Time (Sitha Kalam). Every time has two seasons namely Vasantha and Grishma rithu (Spring Time and early summer), Sarath and Varsha rithu (Monsoon Time for farming), and Hemantha and Sisira rithu (early and late Winter Time followed by harvest), and after the Winter Time the Spring Time will start again.

Poojas, Mantras and Meditation during Maha Shivaratri are amplified by 10 million times.

All the flora and fauna will undergo hibernation during the Winter Time and will start new germination during the Spring Time. This transition time is the most important one for all species including humans. Festivals are celebrated to make them adapt for these transitions. Maheswara tatva belongs to the dissolution of this natural cycle so this Maha Shiva Rathiri is celebrated at the last day of the first month in the Late Winter, before the starting of Spring Time. Human body also undergoes very subtle cellular and molecular changes during this time. Most of the lung and respiratory infections are possible during this time. To avoid them, certain rules are prescribed in the form of celebration of the Maha Shiva Rathiri. We have to always remember that in Hinduism, the science is interspersed with the way of human life. Now we apply the tanning lotions and other skin rash medicines for ultra violet sun rays during these months. But these have their limitations, as these are reactive and invasive procedures of prevention of disease.

Never, ever miss to observe Shiva Rathiri especially Maha Shiva Rathiri

The non invasive prevention techniques are the gradual adjustment of the body’s physiology through these festivals.

According to Siddha Vaidyam, the Vilvam Leaves have a power full preventive medicine for all the Respiratory Diseases including the Cardiac Problems. The worshipping Shiva with these leaves means using them with hand and smelling the smell of these leaves. This involves the aroma therapy. According to the advanced research when moon goes to an angle between 840 to 1800 in it’s rotation around the earth there will be profound influence on the Brain, Digestive Organs, Kidneys, Reproductive Organs, and Spleen. Especially in the months when the sun heat is less in the peak of winter time ( which results due to the increased distance between the earth and the sun due to its longitudinal axis). This influences reaches peak on the 14 day of the moon’s descent in the peat of deep winter season which is Maha Shiva Rathiri day. So on this the Fasting is prescribed according to Siddha Vaidyam. This is intended to keep the body systems intact. The Shiva Lingams are made with the special granite stone which have a specific crystalline structure. This structure is found to have a specific property of resonating the cosmic vibrations. Water has a peculiar property of called colloidal property. This enhances the water molecules to change their bond angles when came in to contact with the cosmic resonance and to increase their energy which then becomes powerful medicine. The abhishekam of the Shiva Lingams is to do this complicated exercises for the benefit of the mankind.

Maha Shivarathiri is considered the most auspicious time to please Lord Shiva to gain his blessings.

All Temples build on the principles of Siddhatham Agamas in South India especially at Tamil Nadu are the Accumulators of the Cosmic energy and Geo Magnetic Energies for the disseminating them for the individuals who go to temples. Going to temples and staying in the night of Maha Shiva Rathiri involves the taking and assimilating the energy for the whole night so that the energy imbalances that occur during the transitional changes are corrected. The mantras used in the abhishekam or in the worship are definite energy states which produce a specified quantum of energy if recited. This energy is absorbed by the molecules of the body and they in turn radiate heightened infrared band of energies. These energies radiated are picked up by the Acu Pressure Points or Adharas which distribute the energy for all the systems of the body for the energy correction. That is the reason why the Rudra Namakam, Chamakam and Mahanyasam and other powerful Mantras are recited on this Maha Shiva Rathiri Day.

Maha Shivarathiri on 13th February 2018

MAHA SHIVARATHIRI IS THE GREAT NIGHT OF LORD SHIVA TO REMOVE OUT ALL SINS AND ACTIVATE OUR HIGHER BRAIN

Maha Shivaratri Maha Shivratri or Maha Sivaratri (Night of Shiva or "Great Night of Shiva") is a festival celebrated every year on the 13th day/13th night (breaking fast/'vratam' on 14th after sunrise) in the Krishna Paksha (waning moon) of the month of Maagha (that is, the night before and day of the new moon). The most significant practices of this day are offering of Vilvam leaves to the Lord Shiva and perform abhishekams, fasting and all through night long vigil chanting Shiva Panchakshara mantra. People repeat the Panchakshara Mantra Om / Hmmm NamaShivaya as it is said he who utters the Names of Shiva during Shivarathiri, with perfect devotion and concentration is freed from all sins. He reaches the abode of Shiva and lives there happily. He is liberated from the wheel of births and deaths. Many pilgrims flock to the places where there are Shiva temples.

Story of Maha Sivarathiri

According to one of the legend, during the Samudra Mathanam by the Gods and Demons, a poison came out of the ocean. It was so toxic, that its effect would have wiped out of the entire creation. At this juncture, on the advice of Lord Vishnu, the Gods approached Lord Shiva and prayed him to protect their lives by consuming the poision. The Lord pleased by the prayers out of compassion for living beings, Lord Shiva drank this poision and held it in this throat by binding it with a snake. The throat became blue due to the position. That is why Lord Shiva is otherwise called Neelakanta and Lord Shiva remained unharmed. The Ashwini Kumaras advised the Gods to keep Lord Shiva awake during the night as part of the therapy. To amuse Lord Shiva and to keep him awake, the gods took turn performing various dances and playing music. A vigil was thus kept by the gods in contemplation of Lord Shiva. As the day broke out, Lord Shiva pleased with their devotion and blessed them all. Since then, on this day and night, devotees fast, keep vigil, sing glories of Lord and meditate.

As you keep vigil this night, you become aware of your life and karma. It is a great opportunity to connect with the divine formless form Lingam of Lord Shiva, the Lingam, who symbolizes 'all-auspiciousness', and to invite these energies in your life. In essence, Maha Shivarathiri signifies the transition from the darkness of gloom and ignorance to the dawn of divine joy and knowledge

Shivarathiri Puja

Shivarathiri Pooja has been given tremendous significance in Hindu mythology. It is said that ritual worship of Lord Shiva on a Shivarathiri day pleases Lord Shiva the most. Devotees further believe that by pleasing Lord Sankara on the auspicious Shivarathiri day, a person is absolved of past sins and is blessed with Moksha or salvation.

According to Shiva Purana, sincere worship of Lord Shiva yields merits including spiritual growth for the devotees. Shiva Purana further says that performing abhishekam of Shiva Linga with six different dravyas including milk, yoghurt, honey, ghee, sugar and water while chanting Sri Rudram, Chamakam and Dasa Shanthi pleases Lord Shiva the most. According to the mythology, each of these dravya used in the abhisheka blesses a unique quality.

Milk is for the blessing of purity and piousness.
Yogurt is for prosperity and progeny.
Honey is for sweet speech.
Ghee is for victory.
Sugar is for happiness.
Water is for purity.

Besides, worship of Lord Shiva on Shivrathiri is also considered to be extremely beneficial for women. While, married women pray to Shiva for the well being of their husbands and sons, unmarried women pray for a husband like Shiva, who is considered to be the ideal husband.

To perform the worship of Lord Shiva on Shivrathiri, devotees wake up early and take a ritual bath, preferably in the holy waters of river Ganga. This is followed by worship to Sun God, Vishnu and Shiva in accordance with the purification rite observed on all-important Hindu festivals. Devotees then wear fresh new clothes and pay a visit to the nearest Shiva temple. As a tradition, devotees observe a fast on a Shivarathiri day. Some do not consume even a drop of water.
